Position Purpose:

Provide operations leadership and management for the operations, engineering, maintenance, logistics, quality, and systems functions to attain safety, quality, productivity, cost, housekeeping, customer service, asset management, and human resource objectives.

Customers:

Mill Management, Product System Team Members, Converting Mills, various Global Nonwovens (GNW) Staff Teams, other GNW Mill Teams, various Sector Teams

Customer Expectations:

  • Drive continuous improvement activities for safety, quality, delivery, cost and engagement within the Product System in alignment with our values of zero loss.
  • Provide troubleshooting support and leadership for the Product System.
  • Assets (inventories, equipment, and personnel) properly managed, maintained, and developed.
  • Positive work environment maintained to promote safety, housekeeping, and employee relations.
  • Provide informal and formal coaching and mentoring for team members with the intent to build capability for a flexible manufacturing environment.
  • Scope:

    Incumbent reports to the Sr. Manager Manufacturing Operations and is accountable for all aspects of the manufacturing processes. Management responsibilities include the operations, maintenance, logistics, engineering, quality and systems functional areas for the Product System. Incumbent is responsible for establishing organizational structures that promote employee engagement and empowerment at all levels and attainment of Lean Manufacturing objectives and values. Incumbent communicates directly with business unit management, staff, and customers in the attainment of business and customer requirements.

    Qualifications/Education/Experience Required:

    This position requires knowledge and ability typically associated with a Bachelor’s degree. The incumbent also must have broad knowledge and significant experience in the technical and operations areas and a working knowledge of multi-functional issues. Demonstrated strong leadership skills and the ability to excel in a team environment is essential. Minimum of 7-10 years of manufacturing base experience and a minimum of three year of leadership experience is preferred along with Lean manufacturing experience.

    Principal Accountabilities:

  • SAFETY: Knowledgeable in safety organization, procedures, practices, and actively observes and participates on a daily basis. Understands and applies the principles of the K-C EHS management system. Develops, reviews and modifies safety operating procedures. Leads product system safety accountability.
  • HAZARD IDENTIFICATION/PREVENTION: The leader is responsible to understand and enforce the applicable site EHS procedures and requirements for their area. Specific responsibilities include:Operating work area in full compliance with local EHS legislation and codes.Reporting, investigating, and promptly addressing substandard acts and conditions.Effectively implementing the facility EHS Management System.Understanding the EHS aspects and hazards of work area and managing to acceptable levels of risk or impact.
  • TEAM LEADERSHIP: Manage team to ensure key objectives are obtained in all business areas, including safety, housekeeping, human resource development, quality, customer service, supply chain, asset management, cost and internal controls.
  • COMPLIANCE: Ensure projects/tasks meet Mill/Sector objectives within applicable corporate policies/government regulations. Perform all duties in accordance with corporate ethics and compliance standards.
  • CUSTOMER SERVICE: Provide exceptional customer service through partnerships with R&E, various K-C sector teams, technology business teams, and internal GNW businesses in support of achieving the Mill/Sector objectives.
  • HUMAN RESOURCES: Manage the selection, development and utilization of human resources to meet mill objectives. Utilize the talent management system to motivate good performance and establish a climate in which people feel they are treated fairly. Ensure frequent and specific feedback is provided to team members for their continued development.
  • ASSET MANAGEMENT: Provide leadership and direction in managing the equipment/facility assets, including predictive / preventive maintenance, and capital project identification, budgeting, and implementation.
  • QUALITY: Provide leadership and ensure quality systems and programs are established and maintained for the area of responsibility. Ensure quality system is effective and compliant to internal and external requirements to meet business needs. Ensure all business activities align and support the facility/sector Quality policy. Involved in the setting and implementation of Quality objectives and evaluating the effectiveness of the facility Quality Management System. Actively participate in the monthly Quality Improvement Team, as well as Management Reviews. Provide the appropriate quality resources to maintain and improve the Quality Management System.
  • INNOVATION: Support technology development and innovation for asset base. Drive asset innovation that supports machine safety, quality and efficiency goals.
  • LEAN MANUFACTURING: Ensure the communication, implementation, and promotion of continuous improvement (Lean) values, strategies, mission and foundations as a means for delivering manufacturing results.
  • COMMUNICATION: Communicate fully with superiors, subordinates, and other team members in a clear, concise, and timely fashion.
